The Maharashtrian hospitality is legendary. The cuisine has subtle variety and strong flavours and varies from region to region. In ancient times in the more affluent homes, feasts often started at mid-day and ended when the sun set! Ingredients for Tisrya Chi Ek Shipi Recipe

  • Clams (tisrya) , cleaned 2 cups

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Garlic , crushed 1 tablespoon

  • Green chillies , slit 3

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Fresh coriander leaves , chopped 4 tablespoons

  • Onion , finely chopped 1 large

  • Kokum petals 5

  • Fresh coconut , scraped 1/2 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander sprig to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder, asafoetida, 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, onion, kokum petals and clams and mix well.

Step 2

Add coconut and salt, mix well and cook for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Remove from heat, add remaining coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot.
