By Sanjeev Kapoor 30 Nov 2021 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients White sesame seeds, Garlic Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Dals and Kadhis Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Advertisment Ingredients list for Nashik Zirka 4 tablespoons White sesame seeds 8 cloves Garlic 4 Green chillies 4 tablespoons Dried coconut , grated 1/2 cup Fresh coriander leaves , roughly chopped 3 tablespoons Oil 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds a pinch Asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder to taste Salt 1/2 cup Peanuts , roasted and crushed to serve Steamed rice Method Dry roast sesame seeds in a small non-stick pan, on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into a bowl and set aside. Grind garlic, green chillies, dried coconut and coriander leaves with ½ cup water to a coarse paste. Heat oil in another non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and once they start to splutter, add asafoetida and cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds start to change colour, add ground paste and cook for a minute. Add 4 cups water, turmeric powder, salt, crushed peanuts and allow the mixture to come to a boil. Grind sesame seeds to a fine powder and add it to the gravy. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
