You might be picking out these emerald hued little jewels from your food. But, wait, before you do that anymore! As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Matar Gobhi Masti Recipe

  • Frozen green peas 1 1/2 cups

  • Cauliflower cut into small florets 2 cups

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger cut into thin strips 1 inch

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 teaspoons

  • Coriander powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns freshly crushed 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick wok, add and cumin seeds and saute. When the seeds begin to change colour, add cauliflower florets, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.

Step 2

Sprinkle a little water, mix, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add green peas and mix. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add half the ginger strips, gram flour and coriander powder and mix well. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add crushed black peppercorns and mix. Cover and cook till done.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with the remaining ginger strips and serve hot.
