Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Makkai Na Bhajia Recipe

  • Corn kernels 1 kilogram

  • Gram flour (besan) 3 tablespoons

  • Green chillies 4

  • Ginger 1 piece

  • Garlic 6-7 cloves

  • Fresh coriander leaves 1 small bunch

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Oil to deep fry


Step 1

Remove the fresh corn kernels and grind it coarsely. Make ginger, garlic and green chilli paste. Wash and chop coriander leaves. Take ground corn in a bowl and mix in rest of the ingredients. Add little water to form a batter. Heat oil in the kadhai and drop teaspoonfuls in hot oil. Deep fry the bhajias till golden. Drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot.
