Ingredients list for Kadhi Bhel

  • 1 cup Mixed Bhel
  • 2 cups Yogurt
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dried ginger powder (soonth)
  • 1 teaspoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • for garnishing Chopped fresh coriander leaves

Method

  1. Heat yogurt in a non-stick pan. Add salt, a little water and gram flour and blend well with a hand blender.
  2. Add turmeric powder, sugar and dried ginger powder, mix well and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
  3. Heat ghee in another non-stick pan and add cumin seeds. When they change colour, add green chillies and curry leaves and sauté for half a minute. Pour this tempering into the yogurt mixture and mix well. Cool down to room temperature.
  4. Put bhel in a serving dish, pour the kadhi on top, garnish with coriander leaves and serve immediately.
