Yes, though other meats being more common, biryani eaters all over the world can easily swear by mutton. And not just biryanis, curries, bakes and all other preparations with this wonderful meat are always special. Did you know, unlike other dishes, a day-old mutton prep will always be all the more tastier on the palate! Try it the next time you plan on to take on this meat.

Ingredients for Homestyle Mutton Curry - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Mutton cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone 800 grams

  • Oil 3-4 tablespoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespo to garnish

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch

  • Cloves 3-4

  • Green cardamoms 3-4

  • Medium onions finely chopped 2

  • Medium potatoes peeled and diced 3

  • Yogurt whisked 1 cup


Step 1

Heat 2-3 tablespoons oil in a deep non-stick pan.

Step 2

Take mutton pieces in a bowl, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, garam masala powder, coriander leaves and ginger-garlic paste and mix well.

Step 3

Add cinnamon, cloves and green cardamoms to hot oil in the pan and sauté till fragrant. Add onions and sauté till golden brown.

Step 4

Add marinated mutton pieces, mix well and saute for 4-5 minutes.

Step 5

Heat remaining oil in a pressure cooker. Add potatoes and salt and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add mutton mixture, mix and saute for 1-2 minutes more.

Step 6

Add yogurt and mix. Adjust salt, mix, cover, reduce heat and pressure cook on medium heat till 4 whistles are released. Open the lid when the pressure settles completely.

Step 7

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
