Ingredients for Curried Fish and Chips Recipe

  • Fish fillets basa, cut into 2 pieces 2

  • Potatoes cut into fingers 3-4 medium

  • Madras curry powder 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon

  • Dried mixed herbs 1 teaspoon

  • Oil drizzling + for deep-frying

  • Refined flour (maida) ½ cup

  • Egg 1

  • Bread crumbs dried 1 cup

  • Tartar sauce to serve


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Take fish fillets on a plate. Add lemon juice, salt and Madras curry powder and mix.

Step 3

To prepare chips, spread potato fingers on a baking tray. Sprinkle salt, crushed peppercorns, chili flakes and dried mixed herbs on top. Drizzle some oil on top and mix well.

Step 4

Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.

Step 5

Heat sufficient oil in a pan.

Step 6

Spread flour in a shallow plate. Beat egg in another shallow plate. Spread breadcrumbs on a third plate.

Step 7

Dust each marinated fish fillet with flour, dip in beaten egg and coat with bread crumbs.

Step 8

Deep-fry these fish fillets in the hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 9

Serve with baked chips and tartar sauce.
