Ingredients list for Beetroot Amle ki Tikki

  • 3 medium Beetroot boiled, peeled and grated
  • 2 Amla (Indian gooseberry) grated
  • for shallow frying Sesame oil (til oil) 1 tablespoon +
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger chopped
  • 1 Green chilli chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Cashewnut powder
  • 3 tablespoons Gram flour (besan) roasted
  • 3 tablespoons Hung yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic chopped

Method

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add ginger, green chilli and sauté for 1 minute.
  2. Add beetroot, gooseberries, mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt, cashewnut powder and gram flour. Mix well, cook for 2-3 minutes and switch off heat.
  4. Transfer beetroot mixture into a bowl and mix well. Set aside to cool.
  5. Take yogurt in a small bowl and add garlic and salt to it. Mix well and set aside.
  6. Divide beetroot mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis.
  7. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Place tikkis on it and shallow-fry, turning sides, till evenly done from both sides.
  8. Serve hot topped with spoonsful of yogurt-garlic mixture.
