Ingredients list for Almond Coated Prawns

  • 20-25 medium Prawns shelled and deveined
  • 1 cup Almonds blanched, peeled and crushed
  • 2 tablespoons Gram flour (besan)
  • to taste Salt
  • a pinch Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 2-3 Green chillies chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
  • 8-10 Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • for deep-frying Oil

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan. Place prawns in a bowl, add gram flour, crushed almonds, salt, carom seeds, red chilli powder, green chillies, garlic paste, ginger paste.
  2. Tear mint leaves and add along with vinegar and mix well till all the prawns are well coated. Add very little water and mix.
  3. Drop the prawns into hot oil, one by one, and deep fry till prawns are cooked. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
