Smashed Chicken Burger

Burgers are a favourite mostly with the young crowd and also enjoyed by the older people. Here is a delicious recipe which is easy to make and will definitely satiate your palate.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams chicken mince
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 inch celery
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • 1 egg white
  • Butter as required
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons mustard paste
  • 1 head of iceberg
  • 5-6 romaine leaves
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 1 medium tomato
  • ½ small purple cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • French fries to serve

Method

  1. Chop onions, celery and garlic finely.
  2. Take chicken mince in a bowl, add onions, celery, garlic, smoked paprika powder, salt and crushed black peppercorns.
  3. Add egg white and mix well. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  4. Heat butter in a pan, add the patties, one at a time, and cook for 3-4 minutes. Smash with a masher. Flip and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Halve the burger buns and toast on the same pan till crisp. Place a cheese slice on each patty, cover and cook till cheese melts.
  6. Take mayonnaise in a bowl, add tomato ketchup and mustard paste and mix well.
  7. Spread this mixture on the base half of each bun.
  8. Refresh lettuce leaves in cold water and place in salad rinser to drain excess water.
  9. Arrange the leaves on the base of each burger bun and place a patty over it.
  10. Slice cucumber and tomato and arrange a few slices on the patty.
  11. Shred purple cabbage and transfer in a bowl. Add vinegar and mix well. Arrange this mixture on top of tomato-cucumber layer.
  12. Spread the mayo mixture on the other half of the bun and place this on the base half.
  13. Arrange them on individual serving plates and serve hot with French fries.
