Oats Thalipeeth

Thalipeeth is one of the most popular breakfast snack of Maharashtrians. Every household has this at least once every week. Normally they use a multigrain flour to make this delicacy but here we have used oats flour. The multigrain flour, as you must have guessed, is nutrient rich and so is the oats flour. A must try recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 1½ cups oats flour
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 green chillies, chopped
  • Oil for drizzling
  • Green chutney to serve

Method

  1. Take oats flour in a bowl, add carrot, onion, coriander leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt and green chillies and mix well.
  2. Add 1 cup water, and knead into soft dough.
  3. Take a non-stick tawa, place a portion of the dough on it, dip your fingers in water and spread it into a thick disc. Make a few holes in the center.
  4. Place the non-stick tawa on heat and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium heat. Drizzle a little oil. Flip and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  5. Make more thalipeeth with the remaining dough.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney.
