Meethi Tamatar Ki Chutney

This is a sweet chutney with a hint of spiciness that the dried red chillies give it. It is quite healthy too because jaggery lends its sweetness. Goes well with rotis or paranthas. All the ingredients are simple and easily available in any home.

Method

  1. Heat oil in an earthen pot, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add bay leaves and dried red chillies, mix and sauté for 30 seconds.
  2. Add tomatoes, raisins and salt, mix well, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes or till the tomatoes turn soft and pulpy. 
  3. Add jaggery, mix, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes. Switch the heat off and allow the mixture to cool completely. Discard the bay leaves and dried red chillies. 
  4. Transfer the mixture into a serving bowl and serve warm.
