Ingredients
- 1½ cups coarse gram flour
- ¾ cup ghee
- A large pinch of saffron strands
- 1 cup grated jaggery
- 2 tablespoons almond powder
- 2 tablespoons cashewnut powder
- 1½ tablespoons pistachio powder
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
- Slivered almonds for garnish
- Blanched, peeled and slivered pistachios for garnish
Method
- Heat ghee in a wide non-stick pan, add gram flour, mix continuously and sauté till golden brown.
- Add 3 cups hot water and mix continuously till well combined. Cook till the water is almost completely absorbed. Add saffron and mix well.
- Add jaggery, mix and cook till jaggery melts. Add almond powder, cashewnut powder, pistachio powder and raisins and mix well.
- Add green cardamom powder, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes or till the mixture begins to leave the sides of the pan.
- Transfer the halwa into a serving bowl, garnish with almond slivers and pistachios slivers. Serve warm.
