  • 4 medium wafer potatoes, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • 1½ tablespoons corn flour 
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Green chutney to serve
  • Tomato ketchup to serve


  1. Thickly grate the wafer potatoes and transfer it into a large bowl filled with water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Drain the grated potatoes thoroughly and put into another large bowl.
  3. Add rice flour, corn flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, carom seeds and gram flour and mix till well combined. 
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Gently slide in small portions of the mixture into hot oil and deep-fry on medium heat till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange them on serving platter and serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
