By Sanjeev Kapoor 08 Jun 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Basmati rice, Split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal) Cuisine Gujarati Course Rice Prep Time 26-30 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Waghareleli (Masala) Khichdi 1 cup Basmati rice soaked and drained 1/2 cup Split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal) soaked and drained for garnishing Ghee 3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 4-5 Cloves 1 inch Cinnamon stick 2-3 + for garnishing Dried red chillies 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder a pinch Sugar to taste Salt 8-10 Peanuts Method Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add mustard seeds, cloves, cinnamon, dried chillies and asafoetida. Add rice and mix well. Add split green gram and mix well. Add peanuts, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder,salt and sugar. Mix well. Add 3½ cups water and mix well. Cover and cook on high heat for 5 minutes. Reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes or till done.
