Ingredients list for Raw Mango Chilli Chicken
- 400 grams Boneless chicken leg cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
- 2 Medium raw mangoes peeled and roughly chopped
- 4-5 Green chillies
- 4-5 cloves Garlic peeled
- 1/2 inch Ginger chopped
- 2 Medium onions chopped
- 1/2 medium bunch Fresh coriander leaves
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Cumin seeds
- 3-4 Green chillies slit
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 3/4 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 2 tablespo to garnish Fresh coriander leaves chopped
Method
- Put raw mangoes into a blender jar, add green chillies, garlic, ginger, ¼ of the chopped onions and a little water and blend. Add coriander leaves and blend to a smooth paste.
- Take chicken pieces in a large bowl, add salt and the raw mango-coriander leaves paste, mix well and set aside to marinate for 25-30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan, add cumin seeds and saute till they change colour. Add green chillies, mix and sauté for ½ minute.
- Add remaining onions, mix and sauté till translucent. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add a little salt and mix well. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
- Add the marinated chicken and mix well. Rinse the bowl with ¾ cup water and add to the mixture. Add a little salt, mix well, cover and cook till the chicken is done.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
