  • 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds (methi dana) soaked overnight
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • a pinch asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 6-7 raisins
  • 4-5 almonds ,roughly chopped+ to garnish 
  • 5-6 cashewnuts, roughly chopped + to garnish 
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey


  1. Heat mustard oil in a deep non-stick pan till it begins to smoke, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida, mix and saute till the colour changes.
  2. Add fenugreek seeds, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes, stirring a few times.
  3. Add raisins, almonds, cashewnuts, dried mango powder and honey, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with almonds and cashewnuts and serve hot.
