Ingredients list for Green Masala Steamed Fish
- 6 pieces Basa fillets
- 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- 10-12 Fresh mint leaves chopped
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 1 cup Fresh coconut scraped
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Crushed black peppercorns
- 3 teaspoons Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 5-6 Curry leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 5-6 Banana leaves
Method
- Combine coriander leaves, mint leaves, lemon juice, coconut, salt, crushed peppercorns and 1 teaspoon oil in a grinder jar and grind into a smooth paste.
- Transfer the ground paste into a bowl. Add fish and mix well. Set aside to marinate for a few minutes.
- Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves and let the seeds splutter.
- Add turmeric powder and mix well.
- Place each marinated fish piece on a banana leaf and pour the flavoured oil on top of them. Fold from all sides and secure with toothpicks.
- Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Place the fish packets in it, cover and steam for 5-7 minutes.
- Serve hot.
