By Sanjeev Kapoor 15 Nov 2016 in Recipes Veg New Update Doodhi Bhopla Bhaji Main Ingredients Bottle gourd (lauki/doodhi), Fresh coconut Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 6-10 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients 1 medium bottle gourd (lauki/doodhi), peeled and cut into cubes ½ cup scraped fresh coconut 1 tablespoon oil 1 teaspoon mustard seeds ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1-2 green chillies, chopped A pinch of asafoetida 1 medium onion, finely chopped Salt to taste 1 teaspoon sugar Crushed black peppercorns to taste Method Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and let them splutter. Add green chillies, asafoetida and bottle gourd and mix well. Add onion and sauté for a minute. Add some water, mix, cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Add salt and little water, mix, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add sugar, crushed peppercorns, coconut and some water, mix, cover and cook for a minute. Serve hot.
