Ingredients for Doodhi Bhopda Bhaji Recipe

  • Bottle gourd (lauki/doodhi) peeled and cut into cubes 1 medium

  • Fresh coconut scraped ½ cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) ¼ teaspoon

  • Green chillies chopped 1-2

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and let them splutter.

Step 2

Add green chillies, asafoetida and bottle gourd and mix well. Add onion and sauté for a minute.

Step 3

Add some water, mix, cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add salt and little water, mix, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add sugar, crushed peppercorns, coconut and some water, mix, cover and cook for a minute.

Step 5

Serve hot.
