Ingredients list for Curried Fish and Chips
- 2 Fish fillets basa, cut into 2 pieces
- 3-4 medium Potatoes cut into fingers
- 1 teaspoon Madras curry powder
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- to taste Salt
- to taste Crushed black peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli flakes
- 1 teaspoon Dried mixed herbs
- for deep-frying Oil drizzling +
- ½ cup Refined flour (maida)
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Bread crumbs dried
- to serve Tartar sauce
Method
- Preheat oven to 180° C.
- Take fish fillets on a plate. Add lemon juice, salt and Madras curry powder and mix.
- To prepare chips, spread potato fingers on a baking tray. Sprinkle salt, crushed peppercorns, chili flakes and dried mixed herbs on top. Drizzle some oil on top and mix well.
- Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat sufficient oil in a pan.
- Spread flour in a shallow plate. Beat egg in another shallow plate. Spread breadcrumbs on a third plate.
- Dust each marinated fish fillet with flour, dip in beaten egg and coat with bread crumbs.
- Deep-fry these fish fillets in the hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Serve with baked chips and tartar sauce.
