Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Cheesy Pakoda Sandwich Recipe

  • Processed cheese block 100 grams

  • Bread slices 8

  • Gram flour 1 cup

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

  • Cabbage shredded 1/2 cup

  • Onion chopped as required

  • Tomato chopped as required

  • Green capsicum chopped as required

  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

Step 1

Take gram flour in a bowl, add coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well. Add 2 cups of water and whisk well to make a smooth batter.

Step 2

For making one sandwich, heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, dip 2 bread slices in the gram flour batter and place it in the pan and shallow fry, turning sides, till golden brown on both sides.

Step 3

Sprinkle some cabbage, onion, tomato, green capsicum, grate 25 grams cheese on top of 1 bread slice. Cover it with another bread slice and press it. Cook for 30 seconds on each side. Make the remaining sandwiches similarly.

Step 4

Cut each sandwich into half and arrange on serving plates and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
