Ingredients list for Cabbage Chana Dal
- 500 grams Cabbage shredded
- ½ cup Chana Dal soaked
- 2-3 tablespoons Oil
- ½ teaspoon Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- teaspoon Cumin seeds
- a pinch Asafoetida
- 6-8 Curry leaves
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add cumin seeds. When cumin seeds change colour, add asafoetida and curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add split Bengal gram and sauté for two to three minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander-cumin powder and mix well.
- Add cabbage and mix well. Reduce heat and cook for two to three minutes.
- Add salt and sugar and mix well.Cover and cook till both cabbage and Bengal gram are completely cooked.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coconut and serve hot.
