Achari Aloo in Dahi

Ingredients 

  • 250 grams baby potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • ½ teaspoon onion seeds (kalonji)
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • ½ cup hung yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • A few curry leaves
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Grind onion seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds into a coarse powder.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add ground powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves, green chillies and asafoetida. Sauté till fragrant.
  3. Add yogurt, mix well and cook on low heat. Add potatoes, mix well and cook.
  4. Add salt, mix well and add ¼ cup water. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve hot.
