Ingredients 

  • 1 medium watermelon, peeled, seeded and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Red chilli flakes as required
  • A few mint sprigs 

Method

  1. To make the dressing, blend tamarind paste, lemon juice, black salt, chaat masala, red chilli powder, salt and oil in a blender.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes in a bowl. Add the dressing and mix well.
  3. Transfer the salad in a serving bowl, sprinkle some chilli flakes, garnish with a mint sprig and serve.
