Tilwale Palak Aloo

Ingredients 

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, roasted
  • 2 bunches spinach, roughly chopped
  • 8-10 baby potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 4 green chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt

Method

  1. Quarter each potato without peeling. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and when they begin to change colour add asafoetida, green chillies and potatoes. Stir and add salt.
  2. Mix, cover and cook on medium heat for two minutes. Add turmeric powder and stir. Cover and cook.
  3. Add spinach and stir. Cover and cook till done. Add coriander powder, cumin power and yogurt. Take off the heat and add roasted sesame seeds.
  4. Mix and serve hot.
