Ingredients list for Puffed Rice Upma-SK Khazana

  • 3 cups Puffed rice (kurmura)
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Mustard seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Split Bengal gram (chana dal)
  • 10-15 Curry leaves
  • 2-3 Green chillies chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Raw peanuts
  • 2 Medium onions finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Green peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Put puffed rice in a sieve and pour sufficient water over. Once the water drains put the puffed rice in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let the seeds splutter.
  3. Add Bengal gram, curry leaves and green chillies, mix and sauté well. Add peanuts and sauté well.
  4. Add onion, mix and sauté till onion turns translucent.
  5. Add green peas and mix. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add some water and mix. Add puffed rice and mix. Add salt, mix and cook for a minute.
  7. Serve hot.
