By Sanjeev Kapoor 01 Sep 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Advertisment Main Ingredients Prawns (medium), Dried coconut ( khopra) Cuisine Goan Course Main Course Seafood Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Prawns Xacuti 2 cups Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined ½ cup Dried coconut ( khopra) grated ½ inch stick Cinnamon 4 Cloves 4 Black peppercorns 2 Green cardamoms 1 tablespoon Poppy seeds (khuskhus/posto) to taste Salt ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder 2-3 tablespoons Oil 2 medium Onions finely chopped 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste ½ teaspoon Nutmeg powder 2 tablespoons Vinegar 2 teaspoons Coriander-cumin powder for garnishing Fresh coriander leaves 2 tablespoons + Method Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan, add cinnamon, cloves, peppercorns, cardamoms and poppy seeds and sauté for a minute. Add coconut and sauté further for a minute. Cool and grind, with sufficient water, to a coarse paste. Put prawns in a bowl, add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Heat remaining oil in another non-stick pan, add onions and sauté till translucent. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté further for a minute. Add ground paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add coriander-cumin powder and mix well. Add ½ cup water and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes. Add nutmeg and vinegar and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
