Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Mooli aur Patte ki Sabzi Recipe

  • Radishes (mooli) with leaves chopped 4-5

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Spring onions with greens chopped 2

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and saute till the seeds splutter. Add asafoetida, green chillies, spring onion with greens and radish leaves, mix well and saute on high heat for 1-2 minutes.

Step 2

Add radishes, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix well.

Step 3

Add ½ cup water and mix well. Once the mixture comes to a boil, add gram flour and mix. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes or till the radishes are cooked completely.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
