Ingredients list for Mochar Chingri - Cook Smart
- 1 Medium banana flower (mocha) outer leaves removed, stalks separated, stigma rem
- 12-16 Medium prawns (chingri) shelled and deveined
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 2 Dried red chillies
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 3/4 teaspoon Tata Sampann Garam Masala Powder
- floret Fresh coriander sprig
Method
- Chop banana flower stalks.
- Put prawns in a bowl. Add salt and ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, mix and set aside to marinate.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan, add prawns and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Heat 3-4 cups water in a deep non-stick pan, add banana flower stalks and salt, mix and cook for 6-8 minutes.
- Break red chillies into small pieces.
- Transfer the prawns into another bowl.
- Heat remaining oil in the same pan, add red chilli pieces and cumin seeds, mix and sauté till the seeds colour changes.
- Strain banana flower, add to the pan along with remaining turmeric powder, cumin powder, chilli powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, salt and mix well.
- Add sautéed prawns and mix well. Add Tata Sampann Garam Masala Powder, mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Place a banana flower leaf in a serving bowl and put the mochar chingri on it. Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
