Ingredients 

  • 1/2 cup mangodi (moong dal vadis)
  • 3/4 medium cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger 
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
  • 1/4 cup frozen green peas

Method

  1. Roughly chop cabbage.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add asafoetida and mustard seeds and let the seeds splutter.
  3. Add curry leaves and sauté for ½ minute. Add mangodi, mix and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Add a few drops of water, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add cabbage, salt, turmeric powder and ginger, cover and cook for 1 minute. Mix well, cover and cook for ½ minute.
  6. Slit green chillies and add. Mix, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add dried mango powder and mix well. Add green peas, mix well, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
