Ingredients for Kiwi Bread ka Halwa Recipe

  • Kiwi peeled 4

  • Brown bread slices 8

  • Ghee 2 tablespo

  • Melon seeds (magaz) 1 tablespoon

  • Cashewnuts chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Pistachios chopped 1 tablespoon

  • almonds chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Raisins 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar 1 cup

  • saffron strands a few

  • Milk 1/4 cup

  • Khoya/mawa 1/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder a pinch

Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient ghee in a kadai.

Step 2

Trim edges of bread slices and cut into small cubes. Slide the cubes in hot ghee and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a non-stick wok. Add melon seeds, cashewnuts, pistachios and raisins and sauté till well browned.

Step 4

Add sugar, 1½ cups water and stir to mix. Add saffron strands, mix well and cook.

Step 5

Blend kiwis into a coarse puree and add in the pan. Stir to mix and cook for 6-8 minutes.

Step 6

Add milk, fried bread cubes, mix well and add khoya. Mix well and add cardamom powder. Mix again and cook for 5 minutes or till the mixture reaches a halwa consistency, stirring continuously.

Step 7

Serve warm.
