Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Kabuli Chana Palda Recipe

  • Chickpeas (kabuli chana) boiled 3 cups

  • Yogurt 2 cups

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 tablespoons

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Whisk gram flour with yogurt till smooth.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and saute till they change colour.

Step 3

Add the yogurt mixture, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt and stir well.

Step 4

Cook till the mixture begins to thicken.

Step 5

Add one cup of water and stir to mix.

Step 6

Add chickpeas and sugar and mix well. Cook for five minutes.

Step 7

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
