Ingredients 

  • 200 grams green chana, shelled
  • 150 grams cottage cheese
  • 1 inch ginger piece 
  • 8 garlic cloves 
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 medium onions,grated
  • 3 large tomatoes, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoons coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder

Method

  1. Clean, wash and drain green chana. Cut paneer into small pieces. Grind ginger and garlic into a paste
  2. Heat oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds. When they begin to change colour, add grated onions and sauté till light brown. Add two tablespoons of water to the ginger and garlic pastes and mix.
  3. Once the onion turns brown add this mixture and stir. Add grated tomatoes and sauté for ten to fifteen minutes or till oil surfaces.
  4. Add hare chane and one cup of water and bring it to a boil. Add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and stir. Cover and let it cook on medium heat for ten to twelve minutes.
  5. Add coriander powder and mix. Add chopped coriander leaves, paneer pieces, garam masala powder and simmer for two minutes.
  6. Serve hot.
