Dal Paneer

Chana dal cooked with onions and tomatoes and further cooked with cottage cheese basic Indian spices. This is Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 250 grams split skinless bengal grams (chana dal)
  • 250 grams cottage cheese (paneer), grated
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 4 dried red chillies
  • 2 tablespoons cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Method

  1. Pressure cook chana dal with tomato,onion and salt till done. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pan add bay leaves and dry red chillies and saute till fragrant.
  3. Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix well.
  4. Add the boiled dal, paneer and sugar and let it simmer on medium flame for ten minutes.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice.
