Ingredients list for Dahi aur Jowar ki Kadhi

  • 2 cups Yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons Sorghum (jowar) flour
  • 5-6 Green chillies
  • 10-12 cloves Garlic
  • 3/4 teaspoon Turmeric poowder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 10-12 Curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • to garnish Fresh coriander sprig
  • to serve Steamed rice

Method

  1. Put green chillies and garlic cloves in a blender jar and grind coarsely.
  2. Take yogurt in a bowl, add sorghum flour, ground mixture, turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Add 5 cups water and mix well.
  3. Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and once they start to splutter, add cumin seeds and asafoetida, mix and sauté for a few seconds.
  4. Add curry leaves and, fenugreek seeds, mix and sauté for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the yogurt mixture and cook, on medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring at regular intervals.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot with steamed rice.
