Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Corn And Cheese Balls Recipe

  • Sweet corn kernels , boiled and crushed 1 cup

  • Processed cheese , grated 2 cups

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Ginger , finely chopped 1 inch

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Roasted cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green chilli , finely chopped 1

  • Cornflour 1 tablespoon

  • Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves , freshly chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 2

Take crushed sweet corn kernels in a mixing bowl, add processed cheese, ginger, salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, green chilli, cornflour, baking soda, refined flour, crushed peppercorns and coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 3

Dampen your palms with some water, divide the dough into equal portions and shape each portion into balls and keep them on a plate.

Step 4

Slide these balls into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Arrange the corn and cheese balls in a serving bowl and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
