How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Cheesy Masala Rice Balls Recipe

  • Cooked rice 1 cup

  • Processed cheese grated 2-3 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder ½ teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Chaat masala ½ teaspoon

  • Gram flour (besan) 1 tablespoon

  • Rice flour 1 tablespoon

  • Lemon , squeezed ½

  • Oil for deep-frying


Step 1

Put rice, onion, coriander leaves, salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, chaat masala, gram flour, rice flour, and cheese and lemon juice in a bowl and mix well.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into balls.

Step 4

Deep-fry the balls in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
