Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Ingredients for Cheese Bread Pakora Recipe

  • Mozzarella cheese cubes as required

  • White bread slices 4-6

  • Gram flour (besan) 1 cup

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Baking soda a pinch

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Tamarind chutney as required

Method

Step 1

Trim the edges of the bread slices. Halve each slice, soak in water and squeeze. Place a cheese cube in the centre of each piece and roll tightly.

Step 2

Mix together gram flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, chaat masala, salt and baking soda in a bowl. Add sufficient water and whisk to a smooth batter of coating consistency.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip each bread roll in the batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Serve hot with tamarind chutney.
