Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Chana Puri Chaat Recipe

  • Black Bengal Gram soaked overnight boiled 4 tablespoons

  • Pani Puri Puris 20

  • Potatoes boiled and peeled cut into 1 inch thick slices 2 medium

  • Ginger-green chilli paste 1 tablespoon

  • Tamarind paste 1 tablespoon

  • Rock salt (sendha namak) 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Roasted cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Sweet date and tamarind chutney 2 tablespoons


Step 1

In a big bowl, add black chana, potato, ginger-green chilli paste, tamarind paste, rock salt, salt, roasted cumin powder, chaat masala, lemon juice and mix well.

Step 2

Crush the puris and add to the above mixture and toss well.

Step 3

Garnish with coriander leaves and tamarind chutney and serve immediately.
