Ingredients
- 4-5 medium onions, thinly sliced
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 green chillies, finely chopped
- ¾ cup gram flour (besan)
- 2 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Oil for deep frying
- Tomato ketchup to serve
- Tea to serve
Method
- Take onions in a large bowl, add salt and sugar, crush with your fingers and mix lightly. Add green chillies and mix. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Add gram flour, refined flour, rice flour and turmeric powder and mix well.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Gently slide in small portions of the mixture into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Arrange on a serving plate and serve hot with tomato ketchup and cups of hot tea.
