Ingredients
- ½ cup split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal)
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1½ tablespoons semolina
- 8-10 seedless dates, soaked for 2-3 hours and drained
- ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped cashewnuts
- 2 tablespoons slivered almonds + to sprinkle
- 2 tablespoons blanched, peeled and slivered pistachios + to sprinkle
- Silver varq for garnish
Method
- Dry roast split skinless green gram in a non-stick pan till golden brown. Set aside to cool completely. Then transfer into a grinder jar and grind coarsely.
- Heat ghee in a shallow non-stick pan, add semolina and ground green gram, mix and sauté till golden brown.
- Add 2 cups hot water, mix well cover and cook on medium heat for 6-8 minutes.
- Put dates into a grinder jar, add ¼ cup water and grind to a fine paste.
- Add the dates paste to the green gram mixture and mix well. Add green cardamom powder, mix well and cook for 6-8 minutes.
- Add cashewnuts, almonds and pistachios and mix well.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and garnish with silver varq. Sprinkle pistachios and almonds on top and serve.
