Ingredients
- ½ cup horse gram (kulith)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 5 dried red chillies
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- 1 cup scraped fresh coconut
- Salt to taste
- 1 lemon sized tamarind ball
- Steamed rice for serving
- Ghee for serving
Method
- Heat a non-stick pan, add horse gram and roast till fragrant. Transfer onto a plate and set aside to cool down.
- Heat coconut oil in the same pan, add dried red chillies and garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into the same plate and set aside to cool down.
- Add coconut to the same pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into the same pan and let all of it to cool down.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Transfer into a grinder jar, add ½ cup water and tamarind and grind to a fine paste.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve with hot steamed rice and ghee.
