Green Peas Falafel One of the most popular street foods of Middle East, falafels are deep-fried balls or fritters usually made with chickpeas or fava beans. Here we have made them with fresh green peas which can be made during the winter months when you get them easily. By Sanjeev Kapoor 16 Jul 2024 in Recipes Snacks and Starters New Update Green Peas Falafel Main ingredients Shelled green peas, Garlic, Cumin powder, All spice powder, Crushed black peppercorns, Fresh mint leaves, Fresh parsley, Onion, Lemon juice, Breadcrumbs, Oil Cuisine Fusion Course Snacks and starters Prep time 10-15 minutes Cook time 10-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Savoury Level of cooking Easy Others Vegetarian Ingredients 2 cups shelled green peas 3-4 garlic cloves Salt to taste 1 teaspoon cumin powder ½ teaspoon all spice powder Crushed black peppercorns to taste ¼ cup fresh mint leaves ¼ cup fresh parsley 1 medium onion, finely chopped 2 teaspoons lemon juice ½ cup breadcrumbs Oil for deep frying To serve Hummus Pickled veggies Pitted green and black olives Toasted pita breads French fries Method Coarsely crush the green peas, garlic, salt, cumin powder, all spice powder, crushed black peppercorns, mint and parsley in a food processor. Transfer it in a large bowl. Add onion and lemon juice and mix till well combined. Add dried bread crumbs and mix. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Take small portions of the mixture and shape each portion into a falafel. Slide in the falafels, a few at a time, into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
