Ingredients
- ¾ cup date paste
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ cup castor sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
- ¼ teaspoon green cardamom powder
- ¾ cup + 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups refined flour (maida)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Icing sugar for dusting
Method
- Break egg in a bowl, add egg yolk, castor sugar and vanilla essence and beat till light and fluffy.
- Add cinnamon powder, green cardamom powder and ¾ cup butter and mix with a light hand.
- Sift refined flour and baking powder directly into the bowl and mix with a light hand to form a soft dough. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 120º C.
- Take date paste in another bowl. Add 3 tablespoons butter and mix well.
Transfer a portion of the dough on a silicon butter paper, roll out thinly, trim the edges to make a rectangle, apply the date paste and roll tightly. Trim the excess. Make more rolls similarly. - Press with a fork to create design. Cut into thick slices and place them on a greased baking tray.
- Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. Take the tray out and let the cookies cool down to room temperature.
- Dust icing sugar on top and serve.
