Cheese And Salami Parcels

You can call them double salami parcels, with a cheese slice in-between and the whole thing sandwiched between bread slices and deep-fried. Serve them with cups of hot tea or coffee and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • Mozzarella cheese slices as required
  • 4 chicken salamis
  • 4 white bread slices
  • Cream cheese to apply
  • Pizza sauce to apply
  • Dried mixed herbs to sprinkle
  • Red chilli flakes as required
  • 1½ cups dried breadcrumbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Thick refined flour slurry as required
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Tomato ketchup for serving

Method

  1. Trim the edges of bread slices. Apply cream cheese and pizza sauce on all the bread slices.
  2. Place 1 salami on each of 2 bread slices and top it with 2-3 mozzarella cheese slices. Sprinkle dried mixed herbs and red chilli flakes on top.
  3. Place 1 more salami on top of each of them and cover with the remaining bread slices. Cut each sandwich into 4 pieces.
  4. Spread breadcrumbs on a plate. Add salt, crushed black peppercorns, red chilli flakes and parsley and mix well.
  5. Dip the bread parcels in refined flour slurry and roll in breadcrumb mixture and keep them on a plate. Freeze them for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. 
  7. Bring the bread parcels out of the freezer, slide them gently into hot oil and deep-fry the till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. 
  8. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
