Ingredients
- 2 cups soya granules, soaked
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1/2 inch ginger piece, sliced
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- A pinch chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- Oil for shallow frying
- 100 grams bhuna masala
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
Method
- Place soya granules in a chopper, add fresh breadcrumbs, ginger, garlic, ½ tsp red chilli powder, chaat masala, green chilli paste, salt, 2 tbsps water and chop finely.
- Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add cornflour and mix well.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into an oval chop. Pierce an ice cream stick at one end of each chop. Smoothen and place in the pan.
- Cook turning sides till evenly golden all around. Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Add bhuna masala to the same pan. Add remaining red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, brown sugar, tamarind paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 cup water, salt and mix well. Cook till the masala thickens.
- Place the chops in a serving plate. Pour the masala over it and serve.
