Ingredients list for Satvik Khichdi
- 1/2 cup kolam rice soaked for 30-45 minutes and drained
- 1/2 cup Moong dal soaked for 30-45 minutes and drained
- 1 medium Green capsicum chopped
- 1 medium Tomato chopped
- 1/4 cup Cauliflower small
- 2 medium Potatoes peeled and cut into small cubes
- 3 tablespoons Desi ghee
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
Method
- Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and sauté till they change colour.
- Add capsicum, mix and sauté for two to three minutes. Add tomato, mix and cook till soft.
- Add cauliflower and potatoes, mix and cook for five to ten minutes.
- Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder, mix well and cook for one minute.
- Add rice and green gram and mix well. Add four cups water, stir to mix and bring to a boil on high heat. Lower heat, cover and cook till the moisture dries out.
- Serve hot.
