Ingredients list for Moong Matar ki Khichdi
- 3/4 cup Whole green grams (sabut moong) , soaked overnight
- 3/4 cup Green peas , shelled
- 1 1/2 cups Rice , soaked for ½ hour
- 3 tablespoons Pure ghee
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 10-12 Black peppercorns
- 10-12 Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
- to taste Salt
- 2 Green chillies
- 1 inch Ginger
- 5-6 Garlic cloves
Method
- Heat a rice cooker on cook mode and add 3 tbsps ghee. When it gets heated, add cumin seeds, cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves and carom seeds, mix and saute till fragrant.
- Add green grams, 1 cup water, salt and green chillies.
- Coarsely crush together ginger, garlic and green peas in a hand blender and add to the cooker.
- Drain and add rice and mix well. Add 6 cups water, cover and cook till done.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
