Ingredients list for Matar Paneer

  • 1 cup Green peas , blanched
  • 250 grams Cottage cheese (paneer)
  • 2 medium Onions
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 2 teaspoons Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala pwoder
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Roughly chop onions and tomatoes, put into a mixer jar and grind to a fine puree.
  2. Cut the cottage cheese into medium cubes.
  3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and sauté till their colour changes.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and onion-tomato puree, mix well and sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt and mix well.
  6. Add ¾ cup water, mix, cover and cook on high heat for 4-5 minutes. Switch off the heat and open the lid when the pressure is completely released.
  7. Switch on the heat, add cottage cheese and green peas, mix well and cook for 30-40 seconds.
  8. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
