Ingredients list for Matar Mushroom Bharta

  • 1 cup Frozen green peas
  • 10-12 Button mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 Medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup Tomato puree
  • for garnishing Ginger strips


  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add onion and sauté till translucent.
  2. Finely chop mushrooms in a food processor.
  3. Add ginger and garlic to the onion and sauté till fragrant. Add mushrooms and mix well. Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix well. Add tomato puree and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or till the mushrooms are done.
  4. Add green peas and mix well and cook till the peas are heated through. Transfer onto a serving plate, garnish with ginger strips and serve hot.
