As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Matar Mushroom Bharta Recipe

  • Frozen green peas 1 cup

  • Button mushrooms 10-12

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Medium onion finely chopped 1

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Tomato puree 1/4 cup

  • Ginger strips for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add onion and sauté till translucent.

Step 2

Finely chop mushrooms in a food processor.

Step 3

Add ginger and garlic to the onion and sauté till fragrant. Add mushrooms and mix well. Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix well. Add tomato puree and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or till the mushrooms are done.

Step 4

Add green peas and mix well and cook till the peas are heated through. Transfer onto a serving plate, garnish with ginger strips and serve hot.
